I didn't know such a thing existed. I could have used while I was in grad school. I can certainly use to work on documents when I need to access them at different locations.

I love the idea of customers using wikis to review books, etc. Librarians using wikis as subject guides: even if the wikis aren't open to the general public, but only to the library community, what a way to save us from having to reinvent the wheel.

I agree that as a profession, librarians need to change with the times. Learn and Play has certainly pushed me in a new direction. It will take time for me to feel comfortable with all of this, but I'm on my way.

I tried to figure out Twitter, but I'm afraid I'm missing some key info. Not sure to become a follower. I was able to find learnandplay and read some Tweets, but I don't know how to add my own Tweet.

LibraryThing is cool! Too bad I don't own that many books. I tend to borrow mine from the library. So my catalog will show books that I have read.

Again this wasn't easy. There were little things I couldn't that were mentioned in the directions to set up an account, like the Share tab. I found it eventually, but it took me longer than it should have.

Working my way through the 23 Things isn't always as easy as it appears. I like to think I know what I'm doing, but I feel pretty ignorant working with all of it. I have just gotten Flickr figured out, I think.

I want to tell you about the last book I read: Quiet, Please: Dispatches from a Public Librarian by Scott Douglas. The author describes how he fell into a career as a librarian because he worked there while attending college. He was encouraged by a co-worker to apply for a grant funded by the city of Anaheim. Thus, he became a professional. My career began in a similar way. I took a job as a clerk after graduation. I enjoyed what I did, but I wanted to take it to the next level. So, I attended grad school, earned my MLS, and began my professional career. Although my experiences don't always match those of the author, much of what he writes is familiar.
